Our volunteers come from a range of backgrounds. For example they may have recovered or be recovering from an anxiety disorder or depression, be supporting a family member with an anxiety disorder, or be a health practitioner or a student with an interest in anxiety disorders or depression.
ARCVic volunteers are people of all ages who have a breadth of personal experience, are empathetic, non-judgemental and good listeners. They also believe in the prospects of hope and recovery.
ARCVic volunteers need to be prepared to commit to a half a day per fortnight for at least one year after completion of their training for the Helpline and once a month for at least two years for Support Groups.

Helpline Support Volunteer
ARCVic Phone Volunteers need to be prepared to commit to 3 – 6 hours per fortnight for at least one year after completion of their training. A 3-month probationary period applies. Volunteers assist callers to understand and manage symptoms of anxiety disorders and help identify problems and barriers to recovery.. The role also includes providing appropriate and accurate information about anxiety disorders and evidence-based treatment interventions, and referral to professional, community and health services. Self Help Support Group Facilitator
ARCVic Support Group Facilitators need to be prepared to commit to 4 – 8 hours per month for at least two years after completion of their training. Facilitators main duties are to ensure participants read and follow the group guidelines, facilitate conversation and discussion, and provide psychoeducation & referrals as needed. The role of the facilitator is not to therapize or problem-solve. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to express your interest.
The Co-ordinated Anxiety Recovery and Emotional Support program (CARES4Me) is known for providing emotional support, advocacy, information and referral to callers. While this is a voluntary position, all volunteers are required to commit to the program for 1.5-3 hours per week for a minimum of 12 months, with a 3-month probationary period. ARCVic Ambassadors share their journey/lived experience at events organised by ARCVic. ARCVic Ambassadors provide support as required.
