ASIST is the most widely used suicide intervention model in the world. In this 2-day interactive workshop, learn how to:

  • Recognise when someone may be at risk of suicide
  • Respond in ways that help increase their immediate safety (including reviewing risk and developing safe plans)
  • Understand why suicide thoughts are present and link person at risk of suicide to further help

ASIST is run by registered LivingWorks trainers and uses internationally standardised learning materials.

Join ARCVic on October 14th to celebrate 36 years of providing a community support information and referral service. This seminar aims to increase community awareness , draw on the wisdom and knowledge of well respected clinicians providing pyscho -educational sessions of anxiety and mental health .

The October 14th program includes the following topics

  • Managing OCD and Anxiety
  • Emotion focused approach to anxiety
  • CARES4me volunteer personal experience
  • Sleeping well with anxiety

ARCVic seminar is open to anyone living with and or supporting someone with OCD and anxiety. This includes parents, teachers, support workers and health professionals to assist the early detection, diagnosis and treatment of people of all ages with OCD and Anxiety Disorders

Mental Health First Aid 2023: MHFA 12 Hour Standard training

Presented by Jill Preston, Registered MHFA trainer.

The 12-hour Standard Mental Health First Aid course teaches any adult (18 years and over) how to provide initial support to someone who is experiencing a mental health problem or crisis.

Learn about:

· the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in adults

· how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help

· what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective

· how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.

Dates: Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th of August, 2023.

Cost:

$200 to general community, $60 to ARCVic volunteers.

Why come to a safeTALK workshop?
In this 3-hour workshop, you will learn how to become a suicide alert helper and be better prepared to:

  • Notice and respond to situations in which thoughts of suicide may be present
  • Apply basic TALK steps (Tell, Ask, Listen, & KeepSafe)
  • Connect the person with thoughts of suicide to suicide first aid help and further community resources
