The telephone Helpline provides support, information and referral to people with anxiety disorders and their families and carers, and mental health care providers.

The Helpline team work on a voluntary basis, and are provided with training and on-going support and supervision by the Helpline Coordinator and other ARCVic Staff.

The telephone support volunteer’s role is to assist callers to understand and manage symptoms of anxiety disorders and depression, to identify problems and barriers to recovery, to more effectively deal with the impact of their disorder on family and relationships, and to develop self-management skills. The role also includes providing appropriate and accurate information about anxiety disorders and evidence-based treatment interventions, and referral to professional, community and health services.

Helpline Role:

Expressions of Interest are now open for volunteering with our helpline. We will be selecting and then training volunteers for the helpline in February and March 2024.

  • Tues 23 Jan Information Sessions via Zoom at 11 am and 7 pm
  • Tues 30 Jan Group Interviews (face-to-face in Surrey Hills)
  • Sat 17 Feb Training Day 1 10 am to 4 pm (Greythorn)
  • Wed 21 Feb Training Day 2 10 am to 5 pm (Surrey Hills)
  • Thurs 22 Feb Training Day 3 10 am to 4 pm (Surrey Hills)
  • Sat 2 March Training Day 4 10 am to 2 pm (Greythorn)
